Obama is using the Constitution. It's a rare thing, but he is doing it to shield himself from the criticism of the rising national debt. As he scolded Republicans in Congress, who have only been in power in the House for almost six months, Obama pointed the finger towards them today when it came to out of control spending.
“These are bills that Congress ran up,” Obama said during his press conference today. “The money’s been spent. The obligations have been made. So this is not a situation – I think the American people have to understand this – this is not a situation where you know, Congress is going to say, ‘Okay, we won’t buy this car or we won’t take this vacation.’ They took the vacation, they bought the car, and now they’re saying maybe we don’t have to pay or we don’t have to pay as fast as we said we were going to. That’s not how responsible families act. We’re the greatest nation on earth and we can’t act that way. So this is urgent and it needs to get settled.”
Oh, so now we get this bit of transference from Obama. After proposing huge $800 billion plus stimulus bills that failed and other big government spending, Obama is now blaming Congress for 100% of the mess. Constitutionally he would be correct, but Obama doesn't give a rat's behind about the Constitution. You can't hide the fact his hands were in the cookie jar too.
