Did Billy Long Ignore Everest College Students Hoping to Ask the Congressman a Question?

Congressman Billy Long once again appears out of touch with the voting sector known as college students. Long's past speeches to college students often seem geared to protect the Congressman from entering uncharted waters that may lead to questions he can't handle. If you remember, when Long went to talk to College Republicans on the Missouri State campus, Long babbled on about the business tour he was on rather than discuss issues concerning Missouri State students at the College Republican meeting. Hey, Long brought free pizza, which is always good for some votes. Right? Who needs issues when you have free pizza. (Long learned a lot from Democrats like Jessie Jackson.)

At another College Republican event on the campus of Missouri Southern, Long dodged an important question from Missouri Southern college student and freelance reporter Eli Yokely.

Now an Everest College student is reporting Billy Long ignored students at Everest College during his tour of the facility that depends heavily on the federal student loan program. Alex Taylor was at school watching the cameras follow Long around the campus of Everest.

Taylor says of Long, "[it] seemed like a "I'm a community guy" stunt to me. He had cameras there and ignored a lot of students. He had a good chance to talk to students in and around the library and do the "politician" thing, but he just walked right by."

One has to wonder why Long would ignore questions and engaging in conversation with college kids? After all, after ignoring issues-based questions at Missouri Southern, Long tweeted:

Just spoke to MSSU College Republicans in Joplin, nice size group today. We must get the youth engaged in politics, it's their future!!!

It does appear Congressman Long is sending mixed signals when it comes to college kids. Of course when Long was whoring for votes, he did take the time to tell Missouri Southern students, “With all the talk about having younger people involved, very few people under 50 years old were at the polls election day. You all are the future of this country.”

So are college students only important to Long when it's a few weeks before an election in which he is on the ballot. That's my conclusion in all of this. By the way, what is up with the parade of cameras? I thought Billy Long told the News Leader he didn't run to the cameras everytime they are offered. Now he has them follow him on campus tours.
