Government Contracts: Another Billy Long Conflict of Interest Arises from Billy Long Auctions

During the Republican primary, Billy Long bragged he had never taken a government check. That in fact was a lie. Long had taken many government checks through government contracts he had to appraise and auction properties through the United States bankruptcy courts.

Now here's where all of this gets interesting. Here's what we know about the present state of Billy Long Auctions.

Billy Long told Josh Marsh he was being forced to sell his auction business because it was a fiduciary business. As it turns out, Long never sold or even truly dissolved his business. Secretary of State records show the business was transferred to Barbara Long on 4/30/11. As well, a Billy Long senior congressional staffer, Bob Kollemeier, is running the current version of Billy Long Auctions--same phone number and all.

Considering Billy Long Auctions bids and wins contracts with the federal government, what is being done to ensure no special favors go to the current version of Billy Long Auctions now controlled by Barbara Long and managed by Long's own agricultural adviser receiving a federal paycheck? I am sure you can clearly see how this could be a conflict of interest, which of course is the original reason Long was supposed to part ways with the business as he plays a shell game with his business interests.
