Pseudo Tea Party Congressman Michele Bachmann will announce in minutes she is running for president. Bachmann of course claims she stands for the Constitution but then voted for the Patriot Act multiple times.
Bachmann recently became a front runner thanks to her popularity in Iowa. While she did vote for the Patriot Act, she is a better candidate than Mitt for Brains Romney who was the inspiration for Obamacare. Mitt for Brains Romney hasn't been spending much time in Iowa and sees himself as weak in Iowa even though he shares the lead with Bachmann in Iowa.
One has to wonder if Michele Bachmann has the appeal that Sarah Palin has? I don't think she does, and Palin could overshadow her candidacy.
Bachmann is making her annoucement in Waterloo, Iowa. One has to wonder if Waterloo was picked as a symbolic place, as it was where Napoleon was defeated and the GOP has described various events around Obama's presidency as Obama's Waterloo.
Bachmann talks about her family coming from Iowa and the values she learned there. She grew up in Waterloo as she recalls memories and American values that were taught in Waterloo.
She attacks Obama on debt, gas prices, and the destruction of the American dream. She doesn't sound presidential though.
Bachmann delivers the typical big government talking points one would expect from her.
She says she wants to shrink government and return liberties that have been taken from American. The question remains, if she wants to return liberties, then why does she vote for the Patriot Act over and over? Does she not see the tyranny it has delivered?
Overall, her speech wasn't inspiring, and I feel if Sarah Palin was to enter this race, Bachmann would be guaranteed a Congressional run in 2012. To me, there are just too many contradictions in Bachmann's message of freedom, and what I heard didn't convince me today that she has what it takes to lead. Unfortunately, I most of the Republican field this year is in the same boat.
