There is an interesting dichotomy taking place in the Missouri US Senate race. Maybe its been too early for you to follow, so I will explain.
In one corner you have Sarah Steelman, who once was a blonde bombshell that now looks like a weathered housewife that has spent too many hours in the tanning bed. You know she's got that leathery look about her. She can't seem to stick to a side and appears all over the place when it comes to Medicare, which she has taken a lot of heat over as it appears she is pandering to all.
Then you have Todd Akin, a conservative Republican who voted against TARP, the bailouts, and other things the federal government should not be involved in. He said something controversial, which I agree with. By the way, even with pressure upon him over his words, he is standing by them.
Akin said on a conservative radio show, "I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal and at the heart of liberalism, really, is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God. So, they’ve had a long history of not being at all favorable toward many of things that have been such a blessing to our country.”
Congressman Akin isn't backing down, and I think I have shown three reasons why he shouldn't and offered some more in a previous article on the subject. Akin told KMOX, “I don’t think there’s anything to apologize for,” Akin said. “I’m not going to apologize for what I see liberalism doing.”
Good for you Mr. Akin. It's nice to see there are some Republicans that still have a backbone unlike some of Akin's colleagues like compromising John Boehner, or Big Government Billy Long, or Pandering Sarah Steelman.
