16.00, Obama Scheduled to Arrive at Halim

United States President Barack Obama is scheduled to arrive at the Perdana Halim Kusuma Airport, Jakarta, about 16.00 pm. Previously, C-17 transport aircraft that transport logistics Globemaster during Obama's visit in Indonesia has arrived at 31 Air Squadron Prime Kusuma Halim Air Base. So even a few fighter planes that escorted visit to Indonesia, they have arrived at the same place.

A number of national and foreign media journalists had gathered from Halim Airport at 11.00 on Prime Kusuma to capture the arrival of President Obama. President Barack Obama is now on his way to Indonesia after a working visit in India.

Various circles in Indonesia is ready to welcome, secure, and utilize the best possible official visit President of the United States Barack Obama to Jakarta. Related to this, a number of domestic flights from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport temporarily closed until Obama's departure to South Korea on Wednesday (10/11/2010).


U.S. Ambassador to Dino Patti Djalal said the arrival of President Obama to Indonesia marked increase in Indonesia-US relations through a strategic partnership.

Obama and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to declare the strategic partnership between the two countries. "Indonesia-US relations are now more structured. It reflects, relations between Indonesia and the U.S. experienced a significant transformation and improvement," said Dino.

Obama's brief visit will also be utilized to increase the value of trade and investment and technology transfer. "There is a great desire to increase investment and trade between countries. Now (Indonesia-US trade value) just reached 20 billion U.S. dollars. We also wanted the transfer of technology from the U.S.," said Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa.

Police and army are also ready to secure Obama's visit in Jakarta. Head of Information Department of the Army Brigadier General Widjanarko revealed, all components of the Army in Jakarta mobilized to secure the visit of U.S. president.

Special forces from the three dimensions of the TNI, the Army Special Forces, Detachment Jala Mengkara Navy, and Air Force Detachment Bravo, will be operated in a joint anti-terror task force, joint support 13,000 personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya and Jaya Regional Military Command.

In addition to holding a bilateral meeting with President Yudhoyono and attend a state dinner at the Presidential Palace, Obama is also scheduled to speak at Istiqlal Mosque, visit Kalibata Hero Cemetery, and deliver a public lecture at the University of Indonesia campus in Depok.
