20 Feature Your Children Classified as "Underachiever"

According to Dr. Sylvia Rimm, a professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, United States, children who underachieve or underachiever possibility is that children are creative, highly verbal and mathematical ability is very high. Even so, with the talent it has, children are classified as underachiever not as successful as the other kids at school.

Rimm, a psychologist and author of best seller "See Jane Win", said the underachievement can be defined as the inability or failure to display appropriate behavior or achievement or talent possessed age children. Or, Rimm said, in other words, the potential of the child are not met (unfulfilled potentials).

Reinforces the view Rimm, according to Montgomery as in the journal Westminster Institute of Education stated, the mark of a child is said to underfunctioning when five of the indicators listed below appear, namely:


1. The existence of inconsistent patterns in achievement in school work

2. The existence of an inconsistent pattern of achievement in specific subjects

3. There is an incompatibility between ability and achievement, because the capability was higher

4. Concentrations of less

5. Like daydreaming or fantasizing in the classroom

6. Too many droll in the classroom

7. Always have a strategy to avoid the task of school construction

8. Low learning ability

9. Study habits are not good

10. Often evasive and did not complete school assignments

11. Refusing to say anything

12. Too much activity and not agitated or restless

13. Too rough and aggressive or too submissive and rigid in the mix

14. An inability to form and maintain social relationships with peers

15. An inability to deal with failure

16. The existence of fear and avoidance of success

17. Less able to multiply insight about themselves and others

18. Low language skills

19. Keep talking and always avoid to do something

20. Is part of a minority group
