Need More Proof Newt Gingrich Doesn't Care About the Constitution?

Newt Gingrich is changing the message of his campaign. He will now focus on all things Alzheimer’s. Not sure where in Article II of the Constitution that provides the president with this responsibility, but Newt seems to think it might save his disastrous campaign. I hope he doesn't think he is going to win the Tea Party with this nonsense.

From the Washington Post:

“For most presidential candidates, Alzheimer’s is a third- or fourth-tier subject, at best.

But as Gingrich sees it, Alzheimer’s, as well as other niche topics such as military families’ concerns and pharmaceutical issues, are priorities for passionate patches of the American electorate. By offering himself as a champion of pet causes, Gingrich believes he can sew together enough narrow constituencies to make a coalition — an unconventional one, yes, but a coalition nevertheless.”

Champion of pet causes? Don't we have the champion of pet projects already has president? Guess what it was an experiment that failed. The federal government is given no Constitutional authority for such trivial things, and it's definitely not the duty of the president.

Gingrich explained, “‘I’m going to campaign on, how do we deal with Alzheimer’s, which really affects millions of Americans,’ Gingrich said. ‘I want to campaign on issues such as, how do we fundamentally reform the Food and Drug Administration so we can create American jobs with the best new medicines?’”

Next thing he will come up with is free government healthcare... After all, that's where these pet issues lead to. I wonder if Newt will parade around victims on his route to a failed White House bid.
