Congressman Billy Long: It's Time We Start Living Within Our Means

Talks a good talk, but is a coward
at making the tough decisions needed
in Washington.
Congressman Billy Long has another great sound bite today to keep people thinking he is fed up with Washington spending. Of course the Springfield News-Leader gives him a pass, never looking to Washington to tell its readers what Billy Long is really doing in Washington.

"Washington is out of control," said Long, a co-sponsor of the bill. "It is time for our government to start living within its means."

As it turns out, Mr. Long quickly drank the Potomac Kool-Aid and isn't exactly in control when it comes to spending OPM.

Here's what the News-Leader isn't reporting...

A scan of the Open Congress Web site shows Billy is co-sponsoring lots of wasteful spending bills including tax credits for fraternity and soritiy (college social clubs) infrastructure improvements, tax credits to restore the Short Line railroad, multiple commemorative coin projects, bills that grow government like the If You See Say Something Act of 2011 and the Emergency Broadband Frequency Act, which robs HAM radio operators of their frequencies

Let's not forget Billy Long just voted to give $1.25 billion of our money to fund a frivolous lawsuit against the USDA called Pigford, which Michele Bachmann called wasteful government spending and the Washington Examiner described as scam artists in the form of class action attorneys who are ripping the government off using the race card. Of course, Mr. Long thought the federal government should sponsor NASCAR teams as well.

So Mr. Long, when are you going to place yourself in control and start getting real about the role of government in order to make the necessary cuts needed to control spending and lowering the deficit?
