Senator John Kerry Congratulates Tour De France Team Garmin for Second Win in a Row
Yesterday it was the team time trial, and today Team Garmin finds a ride placed on the top podium spot again today when American Tyler Farrar won the third stage of the Tour De France. One cycling fan in the US Senate took notice.
Senator John Kerry sent Jonathon Vaughters a congratulatory e-mail for the second day in a row. Yesterday's e-mail after the team time trial read:
“Congratulations on a terrific showing today. It was really fun to watch you guys set pace, focused and disciplined and to listen to your exhortations. Hope to get over, maybe towards the end (of the Tour). All the best, John Kerry.”
It's unknown what today's e-mail said. Senator Kerry is what we call in the cycling world a fred. A fred is like a poser--a poser who wears team gear without earning a spot on the team.
“Kerry’s a massive cycling fan,” Vaughters told The Associated Press on Monday. “He’s got a (Garmin-Cervelo) jersey and shorts, he always rides in it.”
