Another Independence Day is Celebrated in America as Freedom Dies

As we approach the July 4 holiday on Monday, it's ironic that courts in the supposedly free boundaries of America gave Obamacare more power this week, declaring the federal government can force its citizens to engage in commerce. Of course we are talking about the required mandate in the new healthcare law that requires all Americans to purchase healthcare insurance. The colonists fought a revolution against King George for lesser tyranny.

So here we are at a crossroads in America history, where bureaucrats are gaining more power over our lives and frankly making them hell. From rabbit hobbyist in Nixa, Missouri, to the continued investigation into European bicycle racing, it's becoming more and more clear we are bound by chains in America by a great debt and bureaucrats worried about keeping their jobs looking for new ways to bring revenue to the Treasury that will soon be harassing you if you don't purchase healthcare insurance.

Of course, why do you feel this still has a chance of being reversed in the courts, when more and more courts abuse the commerce clause to give Obama the ruling he wants to implement his tyranny?

Do you think the Republicans will save you? Oh sure they had their meaningless vote in the House or Representatives to repeal Obamacare, but they knew it wasn't going to go any further. It's been quite silent in the ranks of House Republicans since the vote. Besides, aren't many of these Republicans the same people who decided prescription medicine should be another federal entitlement--pushing socialism closer to reality in America?

I guess it's hard for me to celebrate the current existence of the United States of America this Fourth. The very freedoms that were gained through independence from Great Britain are now under attack. I celebrate for names like Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Adams, and Washington. I know of no one in the federal government with the exception of Ron Paul or Rand Paul who still understand what these great men were saying.

You see both parties have embraced tyranny. They build off each other. You had George W. Bush telling Americans we can't let the terrorists change our way of lives in America or they win. Have you been to an airport lately? A 95 year old cancer stricken woman in a wheelchair can't even board a plane without removing her Depends undergarment. The terrorist won a long time ago, and Americans surrendered with a white flag begging the federal government to keep them safe while giving up their liberties and freedoms. Now we have checkpoints were a TSA thug harasses an old woman before she gets on a plane because she fits whatever profile the TSA uses for the day to come under interrogation. Usually, the profile fits some fantasy fulfilling perversion of another government thug.

I guess what I am saying is it's really hard to watch fireworks and listen to patriotic music in 2011 America. It's not what the founders envisioned as student loan police break down the doors of a Stockton, California, home ready to pursue a woman who didn't pay her federal student loan. We have a Bill of Rights that is supposed to prevent this tyranny, but there are obviously enough government officials who consider this great document dead that they can get away with this intimidation of a people who calls themselves free.

I am sad this July 4 weekend.
