Johnny Depp, a really good guy. Shows up as Captain Jack Sparrow

A young girl from Britain wrote a letter to Johnny Depp asking his to help start a mutiny against her teachers. Depp actually showed up to the school almost unannounced in full Captain Jack Sparrow gear and makeup.
I've always gave Depp flack for hanging out with Tim Burton too much and actually starting to look grungy and goth-like. Burton seems to have to ability to turn everyone around him dirty and grimy. However, he's won me over with this little nice gesture.
Now, I wonder if this letter writing thing could work on say Gianna Michaels? Would she show up?

Review: B Slade: A Brilliant Catastrophe

It's certainly been an interesting journey for B Slade, the artist formerly known as Tonex. Last year he became the first gospel singer to come out of the closet, a decision that effectively ended his working relationship with the mainstream gospel music industry. However, with wardrobes consisting of multi-colored mohawks, furs, scarfs and platform boots, and music that varied from R&B jams to electronica-inspired pop, B Slade never fit the mold of a traditional gospel star. Even Kirk Franklin never strayed that far from the format.

A Brillant Catastrophe is anything but a subdued affair, containing splashes of funk, R&B, pop, house, soul and gospel, and hip hop. The album's opener and title track finds the singer in an experimental mood, with the music gliding easily between smooth soul and tribal beats, while B Slade sings a few lines from Soul II Soul's classic "Back To Life." The ecstatic "FREEDOM," full of triumphant, choir-powered background vocals, and rolling bass, simultaneously channel gospel and  funk.

On the too short "One Love" the singer gives an idea of the constraints of growing up a preacher's kid. "Never had the chance to live or breath/Never had the chance to be free/ The microscope/Almost made my family lose hope."

"Going Away,"  with its bright chord progressions, also recall the singer's church roots. Meanwhile guest rapper Mom criticizes the current church establishment, a place with the "Same sermons/Same altar to prayer line/Same sick folks actin' like they feel fine." "I told the truth and look at where it got me/ Excommunicated, labeled with hypostacy," he raps. The traditional church is portrayed as a place where duplicity and betrayal have replaced compassion.

On we go/To a place where there's still nonbelievers" B Slade wails on "On We Go," backed by old-school harmonies that morph into hard knock hip hop. On this track as well as several others, the lyrics suggest a call to spiritual revolution, be it on an individual or mass level, breaking down archaic traditions and journeying into unknown territory.

A trio of ballads bring the focus to matters of the flesh.  The other-worldly "Back," full of loopy samples, synthesizers, sparse drums and eerie minor keys, sets the perfect atmosphere for B Slade to a spin tale of love drama, crafting lyrics that are brutally honest and comically sharp. "You had the best of me/My secret recipes/I gave them all to you and you used them on him/You bastard." In case the ex-lover doesn't get the picture, B Slade makes it crystal clear: "The thought of you makes me limp." On the flip side, the robotic "Tempo" gets its heat from the singer's trademark falsetto, heavy breathing and spoken word, with lyrics full of sexy double entendres.

B Slade ends the album on an upbeat note, ripping through a fantastic nine-minute cover of Sylvester's disco classic  "Mighty Real" and the frenetic house track "Get Over You,"which references the best of late 70's/early 80s dance music. With A Brilliant Catastrophe, B Slade crafts an album that liberates both the mind and the body.

4.5/5

Random Things
~Rick Sanchez: I'm going to miss this unfunny news guy. I think he was off the mark the implied elitism in his argument over John Stewart. I think more younger everyday people watch him than the post-grad folks Sanchez was trying to imply. I still think there's a hint of envy in many of these cable news network guys because people seem to be more into Comedy Central news shows than the cable guys.
~I want to change my name into a symbol like Prince did back in the day. That takes a big ego to create your own character. And, then you don't give it a sound. Yes, Prince has lost his mind.
~Dammit, son. Pull up your pants: Some 40 Something shot a teenager in the ass because the teen refused to pull up his saggy pants. This Kenneth E. Bonds guy is a hero, but just a little misguided. Every time I see a young kid walking around sagging his pants and hold them up with one hand, I just get really pissed off. However, now white hipsters are starting to sag too with their extremely tight pants.
~A student in Fla put a message in the bottle and it was dropped out to sea for a school project. A year later, the bottle was discovered...in Ireland. That is pretty neat. I guess there is a chance of someone finding your message in a bottle. My luck would be to find a bottle with a message and discover that it was someone trying to sell me stuff...from the 1800s.
~New Spiderman's girlfriend: Hmm, from Kirsten Dunst to Emma Stone: Yes, Emma Stone was announced as the new Gwen Stacy for the reboot of the franchise. I think they made the right choice. To be fair, Dunst was really cute in the first Spiderman movie, but her looks started to fade as the franchise got older. And, yes, she was very pleasing to the eyes in that rain scene in the first one. Sadly, we know what will happen to Gwen Stacy. She will end up dead. I personally think they should go with the Ultimate Spiderman death for Stacy.
~Christina Hendricks Real or Fake: This rather amusing post discusses the finer points of her lovely “lady humps/lumps”. They actually seem to have it down to a science. Bravo, UpRoxx.

Some “guy” wants Weezer to break up for 10 Million

When I read the title, I just laughed and thought “Stupid fanboys and their self-entitlement.”
Read on to know more of this foolishness.  From NY Daily News, ((A reformed Weezer fan has launched a fundraiser online to raise $10 million to pay the indie band to call it quits.))
A fundraiser?  Look, I’m not a fan of Creed, but I don’t start flapping my wings and start up a fundraiser to stop them from singing.  So, this guy James Burns goes into why he began this crusade to break up Weezer.
(("I am tired of my friends being disappointed year after year," James Burns wrote on thepoint.com. "I am tired of endless whimsical cutesy album covers and music videos."))
Instead of wasting millions of dollars on breaking them apart, how about getting another nerd band to rally around?  How about you create a blog and complain about the band’s decline?  Shouldn’t we raise the 10 million on something meaningful?
(("I beg you, Weezer," Burns signed off. "Take our money and disappear” ))
I would have sent the message back, “Burns, F’ off.  That is all.”
If you want to encourage change in the artists’ work, then stop buying their new albums and watching their videos.  If you do listen to their music, then write a review explaining the reasons why the band sucks.  If enough of their fan base turns away, they’ll either get the hint or fade away.
There is just too much serious shit to worry about in the world that could be fixed with a 10 million dollar donation.
A member on the site left this meaningful comment on their donation site.  The Littlest Winslow says, ((Hey man -
Weezer thanks you for all this FREE PROMOTION you’re giving them! Their name is now aaaall over the blogosphere and even at finer establishments like Entertainment Weeky.
And just in time to promote the new album HURLEY, which is a rompin’ good time!
Everyone – buy HURLEY just to show this dude what a jackass he is.
Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. You are stOOOpid, sir.))
And Neil Woodside says this, ((I am not going to be a complete die hard weezer fan here and try to kid myself that they are putting out good music here, but i also know that these guys are not interested in your money and are just wanting to make music that at the very least is pleasing to their ears. What shocks me is that in the few days this campaign has been launched you’ve managed to get a few hundred bucks.
How about this?
Campaign for even a quater of the money and do something worthwhile with it, charities are begging for this kind of money, hell maybe weezer will play a benefit gig with a set list chosen by you personally. You’ve got the interest, use it for something more worthwhile than this. I’m almost positive that if you raise 2.5 million for charity weezer will get involved and maybe it will restore faith in them.))

Donald Trump Want to Be President of the United States

Los Angeles: Donald Trump's famous businessman reportedly is considering a move into politics by running for president of the United States in 2012, lately.

Billionaire is claimed to change his career and has a desire to take over leadership of the White House than Barack Obama, because he was worried about the state of country's manufacturing industry.

LGBT Artist Spotlight: B Slade

B Slade, the gospel artist formerly known as Tonex, has new alter ego and a brand new swag, epitomized in his clip for "Get Over You," from his A Brilliant Catastrophe mixtape. All I can say is that I'm in looooove with this track. It's like the spirit of Sylvester, the grand diva herself, invaded B Slade's body and has taken over! Rocking a straight long perm and serving much attitude, the video incorporates clips from the classic 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning. B Slade will definitely be an artist to watch. Expect a full review of A Brilliant Catastrophe soon. Watch the video below:
