Billy Long Embraces Big Government and Democrats Still Aren't Happy
Over the past six months, Billy Long has gone from being fed up to being a cheerleader for big government. It appears the people expecting government to be a service provider to them still aren't happy like Dan Ballard.
Congressman Billy Long has been in the news a lot lately, so I thought it would be a good time to write him a letter.
Dear Congressman Long,
I hope this finds you well in Washington. We constituents are having a bit of a rough time here.
I'll get right to it. My challenge to you is this: Will you pander or will you produce? It's a simple decision. The people of the 7th District's prosperity, or lack of it, and your future employment and legacy will be decided by your decision.
It's a historical fact that you rode the tide of frustration, bile and idealism that is the Tea Party into office. How you choose to use this opportunity to serve is up to you. Will you do the right thing and make decisions and support legislation that will truly help the people of the Ozarks? Or will you simply posture, make speeches and take positions that are only symbolic and crafted to gratify the most gullible voters while fattening the wallets of your wealthy campaign donors?
Will you rise above the isolationist idealism that ignores the ridiculous tax breaks currently enjoyed by the richest among us while blaming the leaders, who inherited needless revenue shortfalls, for not being able to make 2+1=5? Will you look through the shortsighted and selfish rhetoric that preaches cutting funding to Planned Parenthood, Medicare and Medicaid, and even Social Security?
Will you take the high road and support the positive change we need in health care, job creation and equitable taxation of the mega corporations? Will you use the power of your position to support, solidify and insure the prosperity of the working people who trusted and elected you to office?
Or, will you simply choose the easy way, and pander in speech and action, wildly pursuing the cameras and microphones of the logic-deprived crazies whose only cohesive purpose is the defeat of anything progressive?
I hope, in all sincerity, that you can see your way to do the right thing. Regardless of my own personal partisan leaning, I really hope you choose to ethically represent the people who live in the hills of the 7th District.
Because if you don't, history shows that you will not get another chance. Over the years since the Civil War, there have been numerous "all hat and no cattle" politicians who were characters. They were all entertaining and popular for a short time, but none accomplished any longevity of office nor, thankfully, left any lasting effect from their agenda.
Pander or produce. It's your choice.
Signed,
A sincere constituent and native voter.
Dan Ballard lives in Springfield.
Dan, Billy Long is producing, but he is only doing so to pander while his buddies are taken care of weather it be the National Auctioneer Society or his business partner Bob Kollmeier.
