Gould, Arkansas Tramples on First Amendment: City Approval to Discuss City Affairs

Gould, Arkansas, is about the last place you would think the great American value of free political speech would be trampled. However, that's the case for this town of 850 people.

The city council voted to infringe upon the First Amendment by requiring its residents to beg permission for its city's overlords before any resident is allowed to gather, discuss, and protest the local city government.

Luckily, the Mayor of Gould, Earnest Nash, is calling out his tyrannical city council.

“This is still America,” Mayor Nash told Fox 16.

“You just can’t vote and violate people’s constitutional rights,” he said.

Last Monday, the council voted to ban groups from gathering or forming without city approval.
Sonja Farley, a member of the Gould City Council, said that no matter the group, if anyone meets to discuss the city, that meeting must be approved by the city.

Anybody want to drive down to Gould, Arkansas and protest idiots like Sonja Farley and the rest of the Gould City Council? I doubt the city jail is big enough to handle a large protest.

Do you need some inspiration to get down to Gould? Consider this quote from the little tyrant city council woman.

“You can’t just come in here, get with four people and decide to start an organization,” Farley said, adding, “You will go through your city council with legal documentation and get approval.”

That sounds like a dictatorship forming in Gould.
