Most people are in disbelief that Casey Anthony will soon be a free woman. Sentencing will come down on Thursday to address her guilt for lying to police officers, but she has already served three years in jail. It's unlikely she will get much more for the verdict. At most, she may spend another year in jail.
That's a far cry from the threat of life in prison that she faced just a few hours earlier as she waited for the jury to reach a decision of whether or not she was guilty in the death of her daughter Caylee Anthony. Most people thought she was going to prison in life, but there was one determining factor that will soon make Casey Anthony a free woman.
It really comes down to the fact there was no DNA found on the duct tape that was used to suffocate Caylee. As well, the smell coming from the car was never officially determined to be decaying human flesh or just some nasty trash. It's the DNA that seems to be most conclusive in the jury reaching their verdict.
