In another look at how pathetic American society has become take a look at your local Walmart. There you will find more and more Americans shopping using the electronic scooters. While some of these serve a purpose, I am noticing a trend of younger, out of shape Americans too lazy to burn a few calories and in such poor health, they too are scooting around causing traffic problems in the lanes of Walmart.
It was so bad yesterday, there were two 30 something women weighing in at more that 300 pounds each blocking the milk section as one of their kids, an already on his way to health problems 11 year old, pushing the shopping cart full of junk food. I am not trying to be mean here so if this comes across a mean, I am sorry. It's just a sad day in America that we have become conditioned to seeing this at Walmart. Is it really that hard to walk?
For those older Americans who answer yes, please don't take offense. This is really looking at this new younger generation of Americans that feel the need to scoot in Walmart with cases of Little Debbie cakes as the main staple of their diet.
And I am reminded if there are this many young and middle aged adults who have become this obese they can't even participate in an average low-impact shopping trip at Walmart, that once again another federal program is going to be burdened as these people reach closer to retirement age. Are you aware the federal government through Medicare subsidizes these electric scooters?
You probably have seen the commercial luring you to use federal assistance through Medicare to purchase one of the scooters, which can cost up to a few thousand dollars. If this many people are using these things in their young life, obviously, this will be another strain on the system on down the road.
Fortunately, the Medicaid process to get one of these scooters is long and drawn out, but the very fact our government is in the scooter subsidy business is concerning. Want to bet Walmart purchases these scooters with tax credits through the Americans with Disabilities Act?
Yes, there is a legitimate need for scooters, but the problem is, like all other things the government encourages through subsidies and tax credits, abuse soon follows.
By the way, did you know the Urban Dictionary has a whole chapter on these scooters at Walmart?
Here's the entry as I am not the only one who see the problem developing:
1. Walmart Fat Scooter
The mobility scooters provided by Walmart for the use of handicapped people but are usually only used by very fat people who are probably able to walk around but are either too lazy to walk or who have converted their obesity into a handicap for which they receive disability benefits. Most often seen with the front basket loaded with multiples of sugar or fat containing foods or other unhealthy food choices for someone of their size- along with a helper spouse/child/friend pushing a regular shopping cart loaded with the same. You will never, ever see an obese person driving a Walmart Fat Scooter with the basket containing excercise videos and hand weights. The typical Walmart Fat Scooter driver also seems to not have any experience in piloting the scooter as they tend to make full u-turns in aisles with other people forcing the people to move out of the scooter's way.
