The California Dairy and Milk Farmers have come under fire for their clever "Got Milk" ads. A new ad campaign promoting how milk eases the symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) has some petitioning them to remove a new Web site and ad materials.
Ms. Magazine has started an online petition in hopes of stirring anger in what is really a funny ad. Seriously! Lighten up Ms. Magazine.
Ms. writes:
The California Milk Processor Board--the group behind Got Milk and the famous milk mustache series--revealed their next mass campaign yesterday. Centered on the claim that milk helps reduce PMS symptoms, the “Everything I Do is Wrong” campaign features a website for men on how to deal with their crazed, menstruating women. The website features a “vocabulary sensitizer,” “”puppy dog eye-ser” and “PMS rating index.” There are also a series of print ads showing men clutching cartons of milk, apologizing to their enraged girlfriends and wives for things they “did and did not do” and “not reading between the right lines.”
Relax, wanna bet the man in the picture has probably stood in a convenience store line purchasing feminine hygiene products while dealing with a nagging wife. It's all part of life. Quit getting your period panties in a bunch.
If this ad was directed at white men, you can bet everyone would be having a laugh.
