He threw his name in the US Senate race. In time, Ed Martin realized he was no match for Sarah Steelman's lackluster campaign. How sad is that! Steelman's last two fundraising quarters has many in the media calling the campaign in real trouble.
So Martin wandered off into another US House race only to have Ann Wagner join the race too. Once again, we see the lack of enthusiasm for Mr. Martin.
PoliticMO reports:
Wagner raised more than $520,000 in her first quarter as a candidate, nearly five times more than her opponent, Ed Martin. She has received money from several elected officials, including Senator Roy Blunt’s ‘RoyB PAC,’ Rep. Billy Long’s campaign, and Rep. Sam Graves’ PAC. In addition to the $37,000 in PAC support, Wagner also claims significant grassroots backing.
“Our campaign is roaring out of the gate powered by the strength and energy of our grassroots supporters as we saw last week when hundreds came to our home for the campaign kickoff in a driving rainstorm,” said Wagner. “My roots are in the grassroots, so while strong fundraising is critical to our success, the foundation of our campaign will be built on the grassroots movement that is supporting our campaign.”
Martin raised almost $94,000 in the second quarter and transferred an additional $152,000 from his former senate campaign, leaving him with nearly half of the cash on hand that Wagner has.
