There is a sad trend I have noticed as I have worked with John Dollarhite in hopes of getting the heavy hand of government off of his back. Republicans who used the Tea Party to land their next elected offices, like Billy Long and Roy Blunt, have been absent in fighting the big government they promised to fight. John Dollarhite is the Nixa, Missouri, man who faces up to $3.9 million in fines after selling $200 profit worth of rabbits to Silver Dollar City's petting zoo. Mr. Dollarhite failed to apply for a federal bunny rabbit license even though he never engaged in interstate commerce.
The one politician who hasn't been absent in this matter is the Democrat Claire McCaskill. What a sad reality. Big government Claire is fighting big government to help Mr. Dollarhite.
Mr. Dollarhite reached out to Senator Blunt's office one more time today in hopes his office would help them in their fight to get the USDA to drop the charges. Now you might remember how unhelpful Mr. Blunt's office was earlier in this matter. After contacting Blunt's office through an e-mail, Senator Blunt quickly returned his letter with a response addressing horse slaughter.
It appeared in light of the embarassment, Blunt's office reached out the Dollarhites, but that was just a temporary gesture.
Mr. Dollarhite describes his conversations with Blunt's office on Facebook:
Roy Blunt is for BIG Goverment..... I called Roy's office in Springfield & Jefferson City today. They are supportive of the USDA and I should NOT have the right to own any animals of any kind because I did not have a license.
Remember, Roy Blunt had a brief fling with the St. Louis Tea Party, who were quickly burned by the new Senator, and now it appears Blunt continues down the road of being an anti-Tea Party Republican. Of course, what jurisdiction does the USDA have over Mr. Dollarhite, who WAS NOT engaged in interstate commerce?
The only thing positive I can say about Blunt in this matter is Senator Blunt didn't drop the ball, after all it is the job of a US Senator to address the business of the state in Congress. The person who dropped the ball in this matter is the man that is supposed to be doing the work of the people in his district, who ran on the promise he would fight big government because he was "fed up." That happens to be Congressman Billy Long.
